Eon Next and Allume Energy have installed a shared solar, battery storage and flexibility system in a block of social housing flats in Stevenage, in what they have described as a UK first. The system allows energy generated by the solar panels and stored in the batteries to be shared equitable between the flats. Eon said the technology could unlock the benefits of solar panels and battery storage for the more than 5 million households in England and Wales living in flats, almost half of which (45%) are social housing.
