Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway remains day-to-day with an ankle injury suffered during the Bears' 17-16 loss to Auburn in Week 1. Head coach Dave Aranda provided the latest update on Monday, saying Lagway was expected to participate in Baylor's walkthrough before the Bears determine how much he can handle throughout the remainder of the week. 'We have walkthrough today. DJ will participate and go through the walkthrough,' Aranda said. 'He's going for today, and we'll be day to day after that. We'll see after today how Tuesday looks and Wednesday and so forth. Right now, DJ's a day-to-day guy.' Aranda added that Baylor's intention is to play Lagway against Prairie View A&M on Saturday if the quarterback progresses well enough throughout the week. Lagway injured his right ankle during Baylor's opening possession against Auburn while attempting to hurdle a defender. He returned to the game with the ankle heavily wrapped and played through the injury, although his mobility was clearly limited. Despite the injury, Lagway finished his Baylor debut completing 27 of 54 passes for 333 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He helped lead a late touchdown drive that pulled Baylor within one before the Bears came up short on a two-point conversion attempt. The ankle injury also forced Baylor to adjust its offensive game plan. Aranda said after the loss that the Bears had designed runs for Lagway that largely had to be scrapped after the injury. That's significant considering Lagway's mobility is expected to be an important part of Baylor's offense this season. For now, however, the news appears relatively encouraging. Lagway hasn't been ruled out for Week 2, and Baylor will evaluate him throughout the week before determining his availability against Prairie View A&M.
