Chinese edition of Islamabad biography opens new window into Pakistan-China cultural ties

BEIJING, Sep 11 (APP):The Chinese edition of Islamabad: The Biography Garden Capital at the Foot of the Himalayas was launched in Beijing, providing Chinese readers with a fresh perspective on Pakistan's capital and highlighting the growing role of cultural and people-to-people exchanges in the Pakistan-China friendship. The launch ceremony, held at the Embassy of Pakistan in China, brought together Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration Deputy Director Yu Yunquan, Peking University School of Foreign Languages Dean Chen Ming, Foreign Languages Press President Ma Rujun, scholars, translators and representatives from various sectors of both countries, China Economic Net reported. Published by Foreign Languages Press as part of its 'Silk Road City Biographies' series, the book was co-authored by Pakistani scholars Dr. Aftab Azeem and Dr. Muhammad Arshad Bhatti, with translation by Zhang Jiamei, deputy director of the Department of South Asian Studies at Peking University's School of Foreign Languages and director of the Peking University Pakistan Studies Center. Using Islamabad as its central theme, the book goes beyond the city's modern identity to explore the deep historical and cultural heritage of the surrounding region. It traces the area's connections with the ancient Silk Road and Gandhara civilization while also covering Islamabad's urban development, landmarks, cultural spaces and contemporary links with China, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
