Kuwait Crushes 21 Tankers and Trucks Used in State-Subsidized Diesel Theft

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 8: Authorities have crushed 21 tankers and trucks seized in two separate cases involving the theft, collection, transportation and illegal resale of state-subsidized diesel fuel. The action was carried out under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, as part of ongoing efforts to combat crimes involving state resources and protect public funds. The crushing operation involved eight tankers and trucks in the first case and 13 in the second, following the registration of both cases and the completion of all required legal procedures, including those before the Public Prosecution. Investigations also found that some owners had leased their tankers to others through a subleasing arrangement while being aware that the vehicles would be used in illegal activities. The vehicles were subsequently used to collect, transport and sell stolen subsidized diesel fuel. The Ministry of Interior said the measure is intended to deter individuals from using vehicles, machinery or equipment to commit crimes, or from making them available to others while knowing they could be used for unlawful purposes. The action also underscores the authorities' efforts to uphold the law, protect public funds and safeguard the state's resources.
