Police are investigating a shooting Monday involving officers and a man allegedly armed with a pipe in Boyle Heights. Officers were dispatched at 9:54 a.m. Monday to a radio call in the 600 block of Gillette Street regarding 'unknown trouble, man armed with a pipe,' according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Division. The department had no other immediate information. NBC4 reported that the suspect approached officers, who opened fire and shot him. The station added that the suspect later died at a hospital, but police did not immediately confirm that report.
