A busy section of the M1 is set to close for urgent ESB works. Meath County Council has made an order for an Urgent Temporary Closure on the M1 from Junction 7 to 10 (Northbound) and Junction 10 to 7 (Southbound) in Meath. 'The closure will be for one to two nights within the period Thursday, 20 August 2026 to Thursday, 27 August 2026, from 7.30pm to 5.30am Southbound and 8.30pm to 6.30am Northbound,' the Council's Transportation Department said in a statement shared online by Cllr Sharon Tolan. This closure is required to facilitate urgent overhead high voltage ESB works over the M1. Diversion route in place as section of M1 to close temporarily © Meath County Council Diversion and information signage will be in place. Diversions are pointing drivers through Drogheda.
