Sneakerville Expands Austintown Store, Will Add Hubbard Location

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Sneakerville, which specializes in collectible and hard to find athletic footwear, is expanding its store and will open a second location in Hubbard. The store at 1502 S. Raccoon Road, in the Teri-Mar Plaza, will double in size with the addition of the adjacent storeroom in the small shopping center. A wide opening has been cut in the wall to connect the two rooms. Dominic Mashorda, owner, said he needed to add space because the original room was no longer big enough to carry the inventory and handle the volume of customers. A grand opening will take place at the newly expanded shop Friday, Sept. 11. Later this month, Mashorda will open his second location at 304 W. Liberty St., Hubbard. Sneakerville buys, sells and trades mostly high-end sneakers that range from rare items – which are sought by collectors and sell for up to $2,000 – to everyday pairs that fetch around $50. The high-end shoes typically have flashy urban flair. Mashorda does business by obtaining new and used high-end, rare and designer sneakers, giving them a professional cleaning and then reselling them. Many of the shoes have never been worn and are sold to collectors who will never wear them, he said. The shoes have a value beyond footwear to the buyer, and they hold their value on the resell market. Like sports trading cards or comic books, their prices rise and fall on a daily basis, and Mashorda said he follows the athletic shoe market the same way a stock trader eyes the stock market. The shop also sells streetwear clothing, including T-shirts and splashy jackets. Mashorda also offers shoe cleaning and leather restoration services at his shop.
