Mulch fire at Swatara Township landfill causes smoke, odor, but remains under control, officials say

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Swatara Township officials on Tuesday said a fire at the township's landfill could cause some residents to notice smoke and an odor as the fire continues to smolder. The fire, which involves a mulch pile, is under control and is being monitored by the township's Highway Department and Swatara Township Fire-Rescue, township officials said. There is no immediate threat to the surrounding area, according to officials. "We appreciate the public's patience and ask residents to use caution around the area while crews continue their work," officials said. The landfill is located at 780 Kelker Street.
