Demonstrators who 'cross the line from peaceful protest into illegality will face the full force of the law', the policing minister has warned. Official vehicles were damaged and several police officers injured during a stand-off with masked protesters in Portsmouth over the weekend. Around 120 migrants arrived by boat near the Isle of Wight on Sunday afternoon (6 September), before more than 200 protesters attempted to block three coaches carrying them to a processing centre, the minister told the Commons. ' This government condemns the intimidating and thuggish behaviour shown by some of the protesters this weekend' she also added.
