Extensive searches launched after disappearance of man

Extensive searches are taking place to locate a missing Motherwell man. Stuart Balfour was last seen in the Cliveden Drive area at around 3pm on Monday. The 43-year-old is 6ft tall, with short, balding brown hair and a beard, and has a medium build. When he was last seen, he was wearing a black and grey tracksuit with a light grey hoodie underneath, a black skip cap and red Nike trainers. Searches are being carried out in the local area as well as in Forgewood and Bellshill. Inspector Kat Thomson said: 'I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Stuart to contact us. 'We are concerned for his welfare and are keen to make sure he is safe.' Those with information are asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2270 of Monday, September 7, 2026.
