Not that there was ever any doubt, but Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw is back at it again. Mere months after guiding Manchester City to their first Women's Super League title in a decade, the prolific striker is finding the back of the net once more. In their return to action on Sunday (6 September), the Jamaican international found herself on the scoresheet twice as the reigning champions saw off newly-promoted Birmingham City in a 3-1 victory. Each time she finds a way past the goalkeeper, something of a consistent occurrence over the last six seasons, becomes as much about a milestone reached as it does about a football legacy taking shape. The 29-year-old recently became the only player in league history to win the Golden Boot award on three separate occasions, thanks to an emphatic return of 21 goals in 22 games last season. With her brace in City's curtain-raiser taken into account, Shaw's league tally now stands at an impressive 85 – meaning she is just 12 shy of the all-time record, currently held by club teammate Vivianne Miedema. Given the No. 9 has only ever had one campaign in which she has scored less than the difference between the pair – her first season at that – means the next career-defining accolade is well within touching distance. Her pursuit of Miedema's benchmark will unfold over the coming months, but it is not too soon to pose the question: Is Shaw the best striker in WSL history?
