2026 Missouri High School Football Top 25 Rankings – Sep. 7

The Missouri high school football season is well underway with week two of the season, and alongside it, things are starting to become more unpredictable across the state. With Lee's Summit (Mo.) exiting week one off the back of a win over the preseason number one team in Missouri high school football, Blue Springs South (Mo.), the Tigers suffered their first loss of the year, with a 2-0 side taking over as the new number one team in the state. Nixa Eagles With the number one prospect in Missouri high school football, and one of the best prospects in the nation, Jackson Cantwell, graduating last year, the Nixa (Mo.) Eagles are still one of the top teams in state. Currently 2-0 to start the year, Nixa were made to work for their win on Friday Night. In a one-score, 30-27 win over Joplin (Mo.), senior quarterback Adam McKnight finished the night with four touchdowns, two rushing and two passing. Throwing for 23 touchdowns and 1839 yards last season, McKnight led the Eagles to the 6A state championship, where they finished as runners-up. Looking on track for another big year, Nixa takes on the top-ranked Republic (Mo.) Tigers, on Friday Night. 2. Liberty North Eagles Heading into week one of the Missouri high school football season, Liberty North (Mo.) was expected to retain its place as one of the top teams in Missouri, with the sheer amount of talent that returned. Despite the graduation of their best offensive weapon, Zemar Cheatam, who put up 1573 yards last season, the Eagles had a number of standout returners. Included in that is starting quarterback Brennan Smith, who threw for 1375 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2025, as well as wide receiver Jaxen Proden, who put up 754 yards and six touchdowns last year. And with a big win on Friday Night over the No. 26-ranked Liberty (Mo.), the Eagles have proved their place as one of the best teams in Missouri high school football, moving up in the rankings. 3. Blue Springs South Jaguars After falling in week one, Blue Springs South reclaimed its place in the Missouri high school football top five with a win over Platte County (Mo.). Headed by the number one player in the state, four-star edge rusher Prince Goldsby, the Jaguars moved on a significant amount of talent this year. With the majority of one of the top defensive line units in the state moving on, the Jaguars also lost their starting quarterback, Ayden Wilhem. After a slow start to the year, the Jaguars will look to avenge their 2025 playoff loss against Blue Springs (Mo.) 4. Lee's Summit Tigers The number one team in Missouri high school football, Lee's Summit's time in the sum didn't last for long, after suffering their first loss of the year to the No. 2 side in Nebraska, Westside (Neb.). Heading into the upcoming season, the Tigers were without two of their biggest offensive weapons from 2025, with three-star running back Preston Hatfield and three-star wide receiver Karsten Fiene enrolling at Missouri. However, they still returned a strong defensive core, with three-star defensive line prospect Zayre Thomas going into his junior year, and three-star linebacker Drew Benassi returning for his senior year after putting up 139 tackles, 19 for loss, five sacks, two fumble recoveries, and an interception in 2025. 5. Raymore-Peculiar Panthers One of the most surprising inclusions at this point of the season, Raymore-Peculiar (Mo.) knocked off one of the best teams in Missouri high school football in Blue Springs (Mo.) on Friday Night. Currently 2-0 to start the year, the Panthers are coming off a 0-10 record during the 2025 season. Rising drastically after missing out on the top 25 rankings in week one, Raymore-Peculiar boasts one of the top cornerback rooms in the state, with three-star corner Josiah Robinson and Nebraska target sophomore Devin Hill.
