According to the director general, all four sites were added to the UNESCO tentative list on May 11, 2026. UNESCO adds four more KP historical sites to tentative list PESHAWAR: Four more important historical and archaeological sites in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been added to UNESCO's World Heritage Tentative List, marking a significant step toward securing global recognition for the province's cultural heritage. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Archaeology Director General Abdul Samad told media that the newly added sites include the Bhamala Buddhist Complex, Sethi House in Peshawar, Gor Khatri Archaeological Complex and the historic Bazira site in Barikot, Swat. According to the director general, all four sites were added to the UNESCO tentative list on May 11, 2026. The inclusion of the sites is considered an important development in efforts to highlight Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's rich historical and cultural heritage at the international level. Abdul Samad said the recognition would help strengthen efforts to preserve the province's archaeological heritage and raise awareness of its historical significance worldwide.
