Myles Garrett trains with viral coach Billy Coffey ahead of the Rams' season opener, aiming to strengthen his tackling technique.
With the season around the corner, Rams defensive star Myles Garrett is already preparing to be a heavy hitter. The Rams are scheduled to start their season with a matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia on Thursday, and it appears Garrett is preparing by connecting with Billy Coffey, a viral strength and conditioning coach who looks like he's training Garrett to be an even stronger tackler.

The videos appear to be from Garrett's offseason workouts in July, where he was laying out pretty hard hits against Coffey, who was further working on his technique.

' Oh. If I wanna stop stepping the fence, the moment I start my front foot forward, I don't get to have my foot go first. You'll notice you're searching for ground as if a sprinter was searching for ground… We don't wanna do that. We wanna push. We wanna push,' He said in one of his videos of him training Garrett.
In the caption of another video, he described how it felt to be hit by Garrett, comparing the full-on collision to being hit by a rhino.
'I've been hit by some of the hardest hitters on earth. Myles Garrett is different. It honestly felt like being hit by a rhino,' he said in the caption.
His work with Coffee to be a harder hitter certainly bolsters his chances of winning the second straight Defensive Player of the Year award. He closed out the 2025 season with 60 total tackles, 43 of them solo, to go along with 23 sacks, three forced fumbles, and a pass deflection. He now joins the Los Angeles Rams, bolstering their defense further as Aaron Donald returns to the team.
