Instagram's new logo update Gets mixed reactions from users
Have you noticed something different on your Instagram feed? If yes, then you aren't the only one, but the Meta-owned Instagram has brought a minor tweak, unveiling a refreshed wordmark for the first time in nearly a decade.
On Thursday, the redesign was announced by the company's head Adam Mosseri on Instagram and Threads, calling it 'sharper and more modern', while saying it continues to reference the original design and retains a simple appearance. Instagram receives a brand new logo design
The updated wordmark replaces the previous version, which had been in use since Instagram's major 2016 redesign.
The new typography consists of more unique curves, particularly around the letters 's,' 'r' and 'g,' giving the logo a more stylized, cursive-inspired appearance. Users react to Instagram's redesigned logo
Taking to micro blogging site X (formerly Twitter), users shared their reviews about the latest update.
A user wrote, "The updated wordmark is a weird mix of half - cursive and half-print font style that looks like it's saying "Instagzam."
Another user wrote, "This logo change started showing up on my Instagram and its very irritating. How did this even get updated without auto enabled updates ?!?!"
"NO ONE LIKES THIS," the user added.
"Instagram's new wordmark is a big downgrade though. Man, how does it pass through so many levels of hierarchy and still end up shit and unreadable?" a third user reacted by sharing a sarcastic post of ChatGPT.
Instagram last significantly changed its visual identity in 2016, when it replaced its original brown camera icon with a colorful pink-and-purple gradient design.
Moreover, the company rolled out a simpler black-and-white interface as part of that redesign.
The latest update appears focused specifically on the wordmark rather than representing a complete overhaul of Instagram's branding.
