The time has come again to vote for The Star Press East Central Indiana high school Football Player of the Week, brought to you by IU Health. The reigning Football Player of the Week is Muncie Central wide receiver/defensive back Doiron Montgomery. Montgomery had four receptions for 59 yards and caught Muncie Central's only touchdown in a 24-7 loss to Yorktown. He also made three tackles on defense. Montgomery received 4,160 out of 5,606 votes cast (74.3%). This week's poll brings us nine more nominees who had standout performances during Week 3 of the IHSAA football season. Each Football POTW poll will include 10 nominees — one from each of the area's 10 football-playing schools, whether their team wins or loses, as long as their stats are made available in time. To submit nominees for future polls, please email names and statistics for the week to cbhampton@usatodayco.com by Sunday after each game day. The poll will remain open until Friday, Sept. 11, at 5 p.m. You may vote as many times as you'd like — just refresh the page after each vote. Please vote using the poll found by scrolling to the bottom of this page — votes submitted via email will not be counted. Here's a quick look at this week's nominees, listed alphabetically by school: Contact Cade Hampton via email at cbhampton@usatodayco.com or on X, formerly known as Twitter, @CadeHamp10.
