After contributing 14 runs in Chirk's total of 178-9, he returned to claim the key wickets as the hosts struggled throughout their chase. Wheaton Aston had already fallen to 19-3 before Swarbrick tightened Chirk's grip on the contest. His figures of 4-19 were the best of the innings and ensured Joe Marson's battling half-century was not enough to keep the home side in contention. Oliver Gough (Chirk) (68) Gough laid the foundations for Chirk's impressive 91-run victory at Wheaton Aston with a crucial innings at the top of the order. With wickets falling around him, he compiled 68 runs and anchored the visitors' total of 178-9. Nick Flack's 35 was the next highest score as Gough provided the platform for a defendable total. His contribution proved decisive after Chirk's bowlers completed the job by dismissing Wheaton Aston for 87, making Gough's innings the standout batting display in the match. 5. Matthew Cohen (Wem) (66) Few innings carried more significance than Cohen's unbeaten 66 in Wem's dramatic Premier Division victory over Whitchurch. The hosts were in serious trouble at 101-7 when Cohen joined forces with Alex Ollerenshaw. Together they rebuilt the innings and completely changed the course of the match. Their unbroken stand carried Wem to 240-8, giving the bowlers enough runs to defend.
