Frazier Life Sciences has appointed former KalVista Pharmaceuticals CEO Ben Palleiko as senior advisor and promoted Adam Simpson to executive partner, strengthening its leadership team as the investment firm expands its biotechnology investment platform and presence in key U.S. life sciences markets.
The appointments add senior operating and company-building experience to Frazier Life Sciences, which manages more than $5 billion across venture and public investment strategies. The firm invests globally in private and publicly traded companies developing and commercializing biopharmaceuticals.
Palleiko joins Frazier Life Sciences with more than 25 years of experience across biotechnology operations, finance and investment banking. Most recently, he served as CEO and a director of KalVista Pharmaceuticals, leading the company through its acquisition by Chiesi Group in June 2026.
During his tenure, KalVista discovered and developed EKTERLY, the first oral therapy approved for treating acute hereditary angioedema attacks, and completed the product's global commercial launch.
Palleiko previously served as senior vice president and chief financial officer at Ore Pharmaceutical Holdings and Penwest Pharmaceuticals. Before moving into biotechnology operations, he spent approximately a decade in investment banking, including time at Robertson Stephens.
Earlier in his career, Palleiko served as a Naval Aviator in the U.S. Navy. He holds a bachelor's degree in quantitative economics from Tufts University as well as an MBA in finance and a master's degree in international relations from the University of Chicago.
His combination of operating, commercial and financial experience is expected to support Frazier portfolio companies as they move from scientific development through clinical programs, financing and commercialization.
'Ben and Adam each bring exceptional leadership experience and a proven track record of helping build and grow innovative life sciences companies,' Frazier Life Sciences Managing Partner Patrick Heron said.
Heron said the appointments will strengthen the firm's work with entrepreneurs and management teams developing new therapeutics, while supporting continued growth of its investment platform. Frazier is also seeking to expand its presence across major biotechnology hubs, including the East Coast.
Simpson, meanwhile, has been promoted from venture partner to executive partner. He joined Frazier Life Sciences in 2024 and will continue focusing on identifying and developing opportunities to create new biotechnology companies.
His background includes building leadership teams, advancing technologies through clinical proof of concept and executing financing, partnership and acquisition transactions. Before joining Frazier, Simpson served as a co-founder, executive or board member at multiple biotechnology companies that subsequently completed acquisitions or initial public offerings.
Simpson holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego, and a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.
The promotion gives Simpson a larger leadership role within a Frazier strategy that combines investment activity with company formation. Venture firms increasingly play an active role in building biotechnology companies around scientific assets, recruiting management teams and financing programs through early clinical development.
Palleiko's appointment provides another layer of operating experience for that model. His tenure at KalVista included drug development, regulatory progress, commercialization and an eventual strategic sale, giving Frazier access to experience across multiple stages of the biotechnology company lifecycle.
Frazier Life Sciences has invested in therapeutics companies for decades and operates across both venture capital and public market strategies. Since 2010, companies in its portfolio have produced 76 FDA-approved therapeutics and completed more than 60 initial public offerings or strategic acquisitions.
With Palleiko joining as senior advisor and Simpson moving into the executive partner role, Frazier is adding leadership capacity as it continues sourcing new investments, creating biotechnology companies and supporting portfolio businesses through clinical development and potential commercialization or strategic transactions.
