Ridley Scott returns to sci-fi with a story of survival and hope Ridley Scott is back with a new science fiction movie as now he wants audiences to see more than just a world after disaster. The 88-year-old director's new film The Dog Stars is set after a deadly pandemic has killed most of the people on Earth. The movie is about Hig, which is played by the Euphoria star Jacob Elordi, a mechanic trying to stay alive with his dog and Bangley, a former soldier which is played by Josh Brolin. The two men, however, live at an empty airport in Colorado. Hig usually flies an old plane, looking for food, supplies and other people who may still be alive. His life change when he hears a weak radio signal as the signal then leads him to Cima, which is played by Margaret Qualley and Pops, played by Guy Pearce. Meeting them gives Hig a new reason to hope but it also brings new problems as well. Scott, moreover, shared that hope was very important to him while making the film. He also wanted to make something different from the many zombie movies now. Author Peter Heller said he was very happy with the movie, adding that its main message is about keeping people close, taking chances and choosing love even at lowest.
