Norfolk restaurants introduce Bring Your Own Bottle Sundays

But now two of the county's fine dining restaurants have introduced the policy in a bid to make eating out more accessible. (Image: The Wildebeest) Daniel Smith, chef patron and owner of both restaurants, said: 'Sunday dining has always been an important part of what we do and we wanted to find another way to encourage people to come out, enjoy the experience and make a little more of their Sunday. 'People are understandably more conscious of what they spend and wine can be a significant part of the overall bill. 'Allowing guests to bring their own bottle gives them more flexibility and means they can choose something that works for their own budget.' Guests who spend £40 or more per person on food will not be charged corkage. Mr Smith said the idea was partly inspired by his own experiences dining in London, where BYOB is available at restaurants across the sector, including Michelin-starred establishments. 'I've eaten at Michelin-starred restaurants in London where diners have been able to bring their own wine and I really liked the idea," he said. 'Lots of people already have a favourite go-to bottle at home, so why not let them enjoy it when they dine with us? Inside The Wildebeest, which is owned by Daniel Smith. (Image: Tori O'Connor) 'Our own wine lists remain a really important part of both restaurants, but this is about giving customers another choice and hopefully encouraging more people to enjoy Sunday dining with us.' The Ingham Swan and The Wildebeest both offer Sunday dining from 12pm to 7.30pm, with two courses for £34 and three courses for £40. The BYOB offer is available every Sunday between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.
