Key players set to return for Wake Forest this week

Coach Jake Dickert provided some health updates for Wake Forest on Monday at his weekly press conference ahead of its matchup this weekend against Purdue. Carlos Hernandez and Clinton Richard are expected to return to the lineup for the Deacons. Here's what Dickert had to say about both key players returning to the lineup. Carlos Hernandez 'I think Carlos will be fine,' Dickert said. 'You know, it's just kind of one of those where it just kept spazzing on him a little bit. He could never really catch his breath. 'So we just weren't in a position to get him back out there, but I think he'll be 100% this week.' Hernandez left last week's game at halftime after a pass from quarterback Gio Lopez led Hernandez into an Akron defender, who laid a big hit on the wide receiver. Hernandez led the Deacons in targets (nine), receiving yards (165), and yards after catch (133) in last week's 38-16 victory over Akron. Clinton Richard 'Clinton Richard will be back this weekend for the game,' Dickert said. 'I think obviously anytime you can have a player of Clint's caliber back in, and one kind of established piece on that offensive line, I think that's going to be a big positive thing for our whole offense and that unit in general.' Richard started last year's season opener but suffered a broken bone in his foot. He missed about two months, but returned to play almost snap of significance for the last four games of the season. Richard entered this season as the most-established offensive lineman the Deacons have, in terms of ACC production and grade. Richard was listed as a starter on the unofficial depth chart for week one, but did not suit up for the Deacons.
