Fire crews battle blaze at a house in New Westminster

New Westminster Fire Rescue Services says no injuries have been reported after a blaze at a house Sunday afternoon. Acting Asst. Fire Chief Gord Denhoed says crews were called to the home, located on 5th Street near 3rd Avenue, shortly after 5:30 p.m. Denhoed says crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house when they arrived. He says initial reports indicate everyone was outside the house, and no injuries have been reported. Denhoed says there were also reports of a tree on fire in the backyard.
