VALDOSTA, Ga. (WSAV) – The Valdosta Police Department (VPD) is investigating an incident that occurred Monday evening and resulted in one child being shot while playing with a gun. Around 5:00 p.m. on Monday, VPD officers responded to Brittany Woods Apartments, 1150 Old Statenville Road, for a report of a child being shot. Once on the scene, officers located a 10-year-old juvenile male with an apparent injury to his face. Valdosta Firefighters and EMS from South Georgia Medical Center arrived and began providing first aid to the victim before transporting him to the hospital.
