Busitema University expects big rewards from FASU Games

Students from Busitema University are among Uganda's representatives at this year's edition of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) games that have started today in Cairo, Egypt. They will be joined by their counterparts from Bugema and Nkumba universities at the championship which is the 12th edition of its kind. Besides chess and lawn tennis, Busitema University will also take part in athletics for the first time. Timothy Omara, the games union chairperson says they look to boost their medal standings through athletics. 'Since it is the first time, we are competing against the best in the whole continent, this will bring the best out of our team. We are not afraid of any of our opponents, we are going to do our best and inspire other athletes who would want to represent our campus in other competitions,' he said. This year's edition of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) games has attracted about 2000 athletes and officials from 81 universities across 17 African countries. The event is expected to help universities to embrace a holistic approach to education. 'We do not only excel in academics, we also excel in sports and in Cairo we expect the Busitema University flag to fly high, the Ugandan flag to fly high and above all and we expect a high level of discipline to be exhibited as expected of us,' said the vice chancellor Paul Wako.
