National savings profit rates cut, new September 2026 rates issued

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reduced the profit rates on major National Savings schemes, including Defence Savings Certificates and Behbood Savings Certificates, and issued revised rates for September 2026. According to the new rates, the maturity period of the Defence Savings Certificates has been set at 10 years. An investment of Rs100,000 will grow to approximately Rs300,000 at maturity under the revised scheme. For an investment of Rs100,000, the amount will increase to Rs110,000 after the first year, Rs121,000 after the second year, Rs133,000 after the third year, Rs147,000 after the fourth year and Rs163,000 after the fifth year. The investment will reach Rs182,000 in the sixth year, Rs204,000 in the seventh year, Rs230,000 in the eighth year and Rs262,000 in the ninth year. The government's decision to revise the profit rates is part of the latest changes to the National Savings schemes, which provide investment opportunities to savers across the country.
