CDA fire safety drill at National Assembly goes wrong

Image
ISLAMABAD – A fire safety drill conducted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) at the National Assembly reportedly resulted in water entering the office of Director General Media Zafar Sultan. CDA staff conducted the fire safety exercise on Friday, during which water used for firefighting reached the DG Media's office. A leakage from the ceiling caused water to accumulate inside Zafar Sultan's office. Water also reportedly entered the office kitchen and washroom. The drill was carried out as part of a fire safety exercise, but proper drainage was not carried out afterward, allegedly due to negligence by the staff. The incident resulted in the media office being filled with water following the exercise. It is recalled that fire safety drills are being conducted at the public offices following a deadly incident at the PIMS hospital where a blaze claimed lives of 14 infants.
