Join us and make September 26 a Night to Remember

Night to Remember, on Saturday, September 26, will see hundreds of people unite in honour of loved ones at a walking event through Worthing. People will don colourful outfits when they step out for the fundraising event, which will start at Montague Place, Worthing, at 6.30pm. Night to Remember is suitable for all abilities and ages. People can choose to walk five or ten-mile routes along the seafront with a few surprises along the way. A team of nurses and healthcare assistants from Chestnut Tree House have been swapping uniforms for training gear to prepare for joining walkers on the night. Healthcare Assistant Shelley Babbage said: 'It's been wonderful to come together as a team and friends over the summer, fitting our training walks around busy shifts and enjoying time outside. 'We know how much remembering loved ones means to Chestnut Tree House families, so it feels especially meaningful to be taking part. We're really looking forward to walking through the night for such a special event.' Debbie Gilpin, whose husband Derrick was cared for at St Barnabas House, took part in Night to Remember in 2024 and will be walking again this year. She said: 'The walk is like a party atmosphere. It's so joyful but there are moments of reflection where I did feel emotional, but I felt supported. There are lots of other people who do the walk for the same reason – remembering loved ones and raising money for the hospice.' It costs more than £34million to run all three hospices in the group, with the NHS grant only funding about 14 per cent of these costs. Our head of fundraising, David Phillips, said: 'We're dependent on the generosity of our communities for more than three quarters of our income, and we can't thank our supporters enough for helping make sure that hospice care is here for those who need us the most.' To sign up for this year's event, search 'Night to Remember 2026' – tickets are £20 for walkers aged 18-plus and £12 for children aged five to 17. Under-fives go free.
