SEARCY: Anthropogenic global warming is now a reality

The severe fires ravaging parts of Spain, France, and the western U.S. and Canada represent some consequences of anthropogenic climate change denial. This crisis is not an academic conjecture but a sobering reality that is now causing deaths and mass destruction. Accordingly, Dr. Jennifer Balch, fire scientist from the University of Colorado, recently told the AP that in Europe and North America wildfires are increasing in number as well as size and severity. Humans have caused the increase of heat and extreme weather conditions but cannot easily remediate the crisis. 'It is not a question of whether our landscapes are going to burn, it's the question of when they are going to burn.' In a 2022 research project in which she teamed with some eight other experts it was discovered that recent warmer dryer nights are making wildfires more difficult to contain.
