Senne Lammens' first challenging period at Manchester United is not enough to disregard Ineos' decision to sign him, despite how Ruben Amorim felt about him. The 24-year-old Red Devils No 1 looked shaky during his overall performance in Manchester United's 2-2 draw against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Senne Lammens' calmness and confidence were lacking on the pitch and the Belgian shot-stopper was missing the same reassuring aura that he had previously exhibited. The United star had not been Ruben Amorim's intended pick as Andre Onana's long-term replacement, but Lammens was a better investment than Emiliano Martinez. Martinez ended up remaining at Villa Park for the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, while the Red Devils made a deadline-day move for Senne Lammens. More United News Amorim was axed as Man Utd manager in 2026 and Michael Carrick has since benefited from the development of Lammens after the Red Devils star's 2025 move. Chelsea landed Martinez from Aston Villa for a £7.5m transfer fee in the summer and the 34-year-old Argentine has made two Premier League appearances for the Blues. Martinez did come under criticism, including from Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports, for not being the same player he once was after Chelsea's 2-1 defeat to Arsenal. Jamie Carragher insisted that the 2022 World Cup winner was not 'quite as sharp' as his prime form after Martinez was unable to deny Kai Havertz's effort for Arsenal.
