Editor:
The primary elections are over, and if the MAGA primaries are any indication, the Mid-term elections are going to be very ugly. MAGA used a boat load of money on mean-spirited attack ads … against each other. The top winners had the most money, the meanest attack ads, and all were anxiously vying for President Trump's blessing.
None of them shared ideas about how to deal with real issues. Issues such as inflation, affordability, healthcare, housing, growing populations and stretched resources, etc.The only thing we saw and heard was fear mongering and name calling.
As the Mid-term moves forward, expect more of the same. In fact, it is going to be more of the same times two. For example, in the Daily Sun's paper today, two letters to the editor were already calling Democrats socialists and communists. One writer went so far as to say that socialism is one step to communism. Neither letter was correct.
Sadly, big PAC money and dangerous extremists will be spewing a lot of ugly nonsense in the next 60-something days. It will be up to all of us to make our choices wisely.
I humbly recommend that we practice four good citizen behaviors.
First, vote with facts not opinions.
Second, participate in the election process by attending candidates' night, read and research, and ask questions.
Third, ask yourself what four issues concern you. Then, compare which candidate shares the same concerns.
Fourth, Vote. Your vote does count. Your vote is important.
