Follow Vietnam.vn on According to information from the Hanoi People's Committee, from September 7th to 26th, 2026, the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee, in coordination with the Cua Nam Ward People's Committee, will organize a public consultation on the partial adjustment of the H1-1B urban zoning plan (Hoan Kiem Lake area and its surroundings), at a scale of 1/2000, and a part of the H1-1C urban zoning plan, at a scale of 1/2000, combined with a detailed planning solution at a scale of 1/500 for the renovation, beautification, reconstruction, and spatial restructuring of the Hoan Kiem Lake area and its surroundings. The consultation aims to publicly disclose information and fully receive public feedback to further research and finalize the planning documents in accordance with regulations. According to the revised plan, the study area covers Hoan Kiem and Cua Nam wards, with a scale of approximately 65.89 hectares, including the entire boundary of the H1-1B urban sub-area planning, scale 1/2000 (approximately 63.72 hectares) and a part of the H1-1C urban sub-area planning, scale 1/2000. According to the Master Plan for the Capital City with a 100-year vision, the historical inner city area, including Hoan Kiem Lake and its surroundings, is being studied for preservation and reconstruction to enhance the value of the existing urban architectural space. At the same time, the scale of new development is being controlled, and the quality of the landscape, infrastructure, and environment is being improved. For the area north of Hoan Kiem Lake, the plan is to expand Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, creating a large square and enhancing its connection with Hoan Kiem Lake and the park-square to the east. The proposed design includes a symbolic "Triumphal Arch," inspired by the soaring wings of a crane, creating a focal point to conclude the Old Quarter urban axis and open up a new spatial axis to the south. For the area east of Hoan Kiem Lake, the planning study aims to create a system of squares and parks in the area of ​​the City People's Committee, Ly Thai To Flower Garden, Hanoi Post Office , and Hoa Phong Tower; reorganize the space around Ba Kieu Temple; arrange a memorial for Hanoi's martyrs; and enhance connectivity with the Dinh Le - Trang Tien area and other suitable commercial and service spaces.
