Are we seeing the end of Jewish politicians in the Democratic Party?

Brad Lander had everything going for him. At only age 57, the politician and urban planner managed to defeat incumbent representative Dan Goldman in New York's 10th congressional district primary. Because if prominent influencer and streamer Hasan Piker, the new political kingmaker, has his way, all future leaders will emerge from the Democrat Socialist party, and none of them will be Jewish! According to an April 2026 article that appeared in the New York Times, titled, 'Excruciating and Agonizing: A New Reality for Jewish Democrats,' 'while high-profile Jewish politicians continue to win elections, command significant national platforms, and anchor leadership roles across federal, state, and local governments, they are navigating a cycle marked by severe ideological litmus tests, targeted harassment, and shifts in traditional party alliances.' But it turns out that this is not true just of Jewish candidates. It also applies to non-Jews who are pro-Israel. Take Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman, a staunch supporter of the Jewish State. As a result of his unwavering position, Fetterman has been rebuffed by DSA members (Democratic Socialists of America). There is no other way to look at it. In fact, Democratic Party leaders will find it more and more difficult to skirt the 'Israel' issue. One way or another, they will have to declare their position of support or opposition, making it the deciding factor of a unified or split Democratic 'big tent' party.
