Letters: Columnist overlooks violence that erupted after George Floyd's death

Regarding Will Sutton's column of Aug. 27, 'Some in Louisiana say political violence can be justified, and that's scary': I too was appalled at the percentage of people who thought political violence was justified. I was with Sutton about three-quarters of the way through his article until his 'mind immediately went to Jan. 6 and what happened that day.' How could his mind not immediately go to the riots after the George Floyd takedown, where the Insurance Information Institute declared that between $1 billion and $2 billion of damage occurred in 140 cities in 20 states? Various tracking studies also determined between 19 and 42 deaths. He can't seem to write an article without somehow disparaging President Donald Trump.
