Data Centers: National Necessity or Nuisance?

Your editorial 'The Data Center Panic and U.S. Decline' (Sept. 1) makes an effective case for the national importance of data centers. But it would have been more persuasive to those who oppose them to have insisted that data center companies reduce their disruptive noise and improve their design. I believe data centers are vital for national security and the economy. Nevertheless, I don't want to hear, smell or see them in their present configuration, and I'll bet a lot of other people feel the same way. Until data center developers and companies make these changes, the opposition will grow louder.
