LETTER: Why did they change mind about Trump?

Image
Editor: What became of the senators, representatives, and cabinet members who once warned the country about Donald Trump? Vice President J.D. Vance called him 'America's Hitler.' Marco Rubio called him a 'con artist' and a 'lunatic.' Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell said Trump was solely responsible for the January 6th attack on the Capitol and argued he should never hold office again. Many in Congress understood the danger. So, what changed? Why have they all become total sycophants, bending their knee and kissing the ring of this narcissistic, corrupt and criminal man? How do they look at themselves in the mirror? What do they say to their children? He will be gone very soon, and don't they care that their legacy will carry the stain of their loyalty to this broken man for the rest of their lives? Fortunately, more people are finally seeing the truth – not only critics like me, but ordinary Americans, including many Republicans. They feel it at the gas pump, the grocery store, and in their insurance bills. Rising costs and instability have made old excuses harder to sustain. Though they once found reasons to justify support for Trump, it has become totally evident that he doesn't give a damn about them. And his outrageous tariffs, and his illegal war with Iran have created a world they can no longer afford to live in.When voters go to the polls, let's hope they remember the pain they felt, who caused it, and who enabled it.
