거북이의 걸음 [포토에세이]
지난달 27일, 인도네시아 발리 사누르의 거북이 보호소 수조에서 거북이 한마리가 물 위를 떠다니고 있다. 단순한 볼거리를 넘어 섬의 생태계를 지탱하는 소중한 존재인 거북이의 생존율을 높이고자 현지 주민들은 곳곳에 보호소를 세우고 종 보존에 힘 쏟고 있다. 하나의 생명을 지키려는 노력이, 거북이의 걸음처럼 느릴지라도 세상을 조금씩 바꾸고 있다. 박종식 기자 anaki@hani.co.kr
