NUGGETS: Are you discontent?

Image
By Jannie Linney Are you discontent? Has life seemed to let you down? There is a way to contentment, peace and victory. There is a way for us to overcome, even in the middle of trials. Many people has had a religious experience or been raised in a religious setting. Some have become disillusioned with religion. That's OK, I too am very disillusioned with religion. If you remember, it was the religious people that crucified Jesus. There are many religions in the world. You see Christianity is not a religion; it is a relationship with Jesus, as I have written many times in this column. Christianity is not an organization; it is an organism, a body. It is a group of living people accumulated that love Jesus with all their hearts. So if you have been disillusioned with religion or been hurt by religious people, you need to get into the live stream of living water. Don't stop seeking Jesus. Everyone is discontent until they know Jesus. Until we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we do not know him. Jesus said, 'My sheep hear my voice.' When a person really knows Jesus, they stay close enough to him to hear his voice. They love him so much they want to please him by doing what he told us in his word. His word says we must be born again to enter the Kingdom of Heaven [John 3:3]. 'Marvel not that I say, ye must be born again' [John 3:7]. No organization can get us there, no amount of work or good deeds can save us. We must come to him his way. Jesus said 'No man can come to me except the Father draw him' [John 6:44, 65]. 'No man comes to the Father but by me' [Jesus] John 14:6]. We don't even need a theologian to explain these verses to us. Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new [2 Cor. 5:17]. When we are born again there is an instant change into a different state of being. In a natural birth, there is an instant change. Then the baby is fed, clothed, watered and it responds different. That is why God used this example. After the new birth, we need to be fed, watered, clothed and sometimes pampers need to be changed. After the new birth, there is a growing time. 'But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord' [1 Cor. 3:18]. It is a growing maturing process. If we are not more like him this year than we were last year, there is something wrong. If we yield into his word we are being changed into his image. We all know we haven't arrived yet. We will be in the maturing process as long as we are here on earth. The important thing is, don't let complacency stop us. Have you had that life changing experience? If you said a prayer saying words of inviting Jesus into your heart and nothing changed, then you need to say them again from your heart. You see, when Jesus comes into your heart, there is a change. Everything Jesus ever touched changed. If you can't talk openly about him, you need to invite him into your heart. Jesus is so big, that when he comes into our heart he is gonna stick out somewhere. There is a God-shaped vacuum inside each of us. Until you fill it with him, 'You will be discontent.' By Jannie Linney I was 'Born Again' of the Spirit of God in May 1971. From that time, I have been studying the Word of God and being taught by wonderful teachers. However, I'll never be a theologian.
