Farage Falters at the Finish

Is it still lawfare if it's true? Nigel Farage, the hitherto irrepressible leader of Britain's hitherto insurgent Reform U.K. party, is suddenly under pressure. As often with New Right parties, it's about funny money. The outcome may determine whether Mr. Farage rides popular discontent all the way to 10 Downing Street, or whether, as with earlier Farage vehicles, the wheels are coming off as Reform crashes the gates of power. On Sept. 3, the first day of Reform's annual conference, Britain's Channel 4 aired an undercover report into the party's fundraising. Hidden cameras caught James Orr, the Cambridge professor who became Reform's head of policy in February, and Dan Jukes, Mr. Farage's longstanding sidekick, apparently soliciting and receiving donations from the U.S. and suggesting how to cover the money trail. These acts are illegal under British electoral law.
