Football players highlight latest Public Opinion-Aberdeen News AOTW poll

South Dakota high school football season is in full gear now and that's one reason why the latest Watertown Public Opinion-Aberdeen News Athlete of the Week Poll is football heavy. Seven of the 10 nominees for the Aug. 31-Sept. 6, 2026 honor are football players. They are joined by a boys' golfer and two volleyball players. Now it's up to you. Your vote decides the winner. One change this week. The poll will remain open until midnight on Saturday, Sept. 12 instead of midnight on Sunday, Sept. 13. This will help in finalized the previous week's winner before the new poll is released. Congratulations goes to Watertown High School football player Lincoln Schutt for winning the weekly honor for Aug. 24-30.
