At the Table

September 6, 2026 The Register 's Aug. 17 article "Parishes offer shelter, food for B.C wildfire evacuees," rightly credited Penticton's St. Ann's and St. John Vianney parishes for their tireless response to the Bald Range fires. I would add one more parish. Holy Resurrection Ukrainian Catholic Parish had planned Aug. 15 — the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos — as a fundraiser for those displaced inside Ukraine due to the ongoing war. We were honoured to share that day with our Roman Catholic neighbours — not as strangers extending aid but as fellow Christians at one table. David Traynor, Penticton, B.C.
