4 Bold Predictions for Dolphins Week 1 Matchup

The new era of the Miami Dolphins is set to kick off on Sep. 13, as the team will face the Las Vegas Raiders in their first of two matchups on the West Coast. Though many are counting the Dolphins out of the first game, along with the rest of the regular season games, they still have a shot to make some noise. That said, here are four bold predictions for the Week 1 matchup for Miami. Rookie receiver Chris Bell has surprised everyone with his rapid recovery from a torn ACL that occurred during his senior season in 2025. Despite an injury that typically takes a year or longer to recover from, he made his preseason debut against the Atlanta Falcons. Bell showed his pass catching abilities, as his long frame allowed him to make plays on the ball while also engaging in some catch-and-run ability. He also dropped a ball after a big hit, which is something he will need to correct. That said, he should have around the same targets as five, but he could turn those into big gains against the Raiders. The Dolphins are expected to be a run-first team, which makes sense considering De'Von Achane is in the building. However, his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield will be integral to the offense being potent. Willis has already built chemistry with Malik Washington, Caleb Douglas, Achane, and tight end Greg Dulcich. Despite a poor outlook overall at the pass catching talent on the team, there are some weapons the Dolphins quarterback can utilize in a big way. Expect Willis to hit the middle of the field, and players to pick up some strong yards after the catch. One of the best aspects of rookie offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor is his maturity in terms of understanding that he will make mistakes as he learns on the field. However, he has had strong mentors in Patrick Paul and the rest of the offensive line. Proctor will come out of the game not committing any penalties or giving up any sacks in his NFL debut. Miami has some strong players who can cause chaos for Cousins and the offense, and they may be able to secure their goal of three turnovers. Rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, fellow linebacker Jordyn Brooks, and edge Chop Robinson will make life tough for the Raiders offense.
