Remembering Charlie Kirk — One year later

On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking to students at Utah Valley University. Charlie dedicated his life to reaching young Americans, especially college students, and encouraging them to engage in civil discourse, challenge ideas, and never be afraid to speak their minds. Charlie built a movement around the belief that the next generation has a responsibility to stand up for America, freedom, and the values they believe in. He traveled across the country, visiting college campuses and giving students a place to ask questions, debate, and have meaningful conversations. It seems like hate speech has been on the rise in America, especially since October 7th. We saw this almost immediately on college campuses, and unfortunately, many colleges and universities did very little to address it. There is nothing wrong with students protesting or having strong opinions about Israel or any other political issue. That is part of free speech. But there is a line between protesting and promoting hate, intimidation, or violence against Jews. The writer is a 33-year-old Jewish Finance and Political professional.
