Letter: Growing the grassroots voting effort

A bipartisan group that fears the turmoil of the Trump presidency is making a difference in Alaska election campaigns. We are seeking volunteers in the next month to help us. Our goal for 2026 is to elect a pro-democracy majority in Congress, one that can serve as an effective check on the Trump administration. Our plan is to mail thousands of handwritten postcards to carefully targeted Alaska voters before the Nov. 3 general election, encouraging lapsed voters to show up and nudging persuadable ones to vote for pro-democracy candidates. Handwritten cards work. And ours will be written by Alaskans, to Alaskans, on Alaska-themed cards by local artists. We are neighbors who had to do something to stop Trump. Help us save our reproductive rights, our freedom to breathe clean air and drink clean water, and the freedom that unlocks all the others: the freedom to vote. We do not ask for money.
