I feel that Michael Carrick's tactics have exposed Manchester United's biggest factor that was out of his control after the Everton draw on Sunday afternoon. However, I think a more pressing point from Manchester United's 2-2 draw against Everton became apparent with the Red Devils' tactical set-up under Michael Carrick. It was not Carrick's approach that was at fault around Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui and Patrick Dorgu, but why the United manager was forced to do it in the first place. I feel that Carrick's need to play Mazraoui at left-back was the biggest sign that Ineos dropped a huge clanger in the summer window with the transfer approach. The Yoro experiment at right-back was tried in the summer, but for him to play in the role in Man Utd's 2-2 against Everton instead of Mazraoui says it all for fans. The combination of Mazraoui, Yoro and Dorgu in the second half is something that I think United fans might see again due to the left-back conundrum facing Carrick. The ethos of 'let's wait until next summer to do the defender overhaul' that Ineos have appeared to adopt is going to haunt United legend Carrick this season.
