After signing a nondisclosure agreement that granted her confidential information related to Meta's Hyperion data center, U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow, Louisiana's front-runner for a U.S. Senate seat, purchased stock in both Meta and Nvidia. Letlow disclosed those purchases over a year late — part of a consistent pattern and in violation of the federal STOCK Act. If that's not insider trading, it is most certainly a conflict of interest.
Letlow has tried to pass the blame to her stockbroker, claiming those purchases were made without her knowledge. However, the delay in disclosing the trades falls squarely on Letlow.
Louisiana deserves an elected official who acts with transparency and is focused on serving the public rather than her own net worth. Letlow has no scheduled town halls to allow the public to directly address these concerns and seems intent on brushing this scandal under the rug.
If Letlow cannot own up to her error in judgment, she should step aside for a candidate with more integrity to serve Louisiana.
