Haitians numbering 350,000 have been removed from Temporary Protected Status. Springfield, Ohio, has 10,000 to 15,000 of these people. They are being sent back to Haiti regardless of never having committed a crime. The fabric of their lives is being disrupted and destroyed. The death by suicide of 18-year-old Pierre Damas Bel, a Haitian college student in Springfield, has been reported. His father reports how depressed he was to be wearing an ankle device and unable to play sports. He was also anticipating being sent into the violent atmosphere of Haiti. This is only one of over a million people whose TPS status is being revoked.
If we care about morality, it is past time to oppose President Donald Trump and Stephen Miller who are pursuing this cruelty. Please do anything and everything you can locally to get the word out that our government is pursuing egregious immigration policies. I hope people will quit worrying about loss of influence for white people, and instead do what Jesus would have done to protect people of color. If we are filled with hate, and are not upset by these policies, something in us is lacking.
