Letters: LSU is taking a big risk by signing former NFL football players

Image
I have a prediction for the upcoming football season. I predict that LSU will have an outstanding season, go to the playoffs, possibly win the national championship and then be forced to forfeit all their games because they used players who had been declared eligible by an obviously biased local judge who, with any hope of reelection, would not dare to rule against the home team. These cases in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and other states will eventually reach courts where judges are not subject to local pressure. Under NCAA rules, players who have signed NFL contracts are ineligible. I sincerely hope that the LSU athletic staff has the foresight to look past immediate gratification to foreseeable consequences. RICHARD S.
