Vote in November's election to honor memory of 9/11

Twenty-five years ago, on Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists launched a heinous assault on the United States. The results were civilian casualties in the thousands, and the largest single loss of life of first responders in U.S. history. But the attackers did not deliver the debilitating blow to America they had hoped for. We refused to bow to the will of violent, delusional fanatics. We refused to let a group of contemptible cowards destroy our national resolve. In two months, elections could stem the tide of greed, dishonesty and intolerance that has spewed forth from Washington, D.C., over the past two years. If this tide is allowed to continue unchecked, it will destroy every trace of the bravery, character and collaboration that was so vividly in evidence in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks. We can do no greater honor to the memories of the victims of that fateful morning than to go to the polls this Nov. 3 and begin the process of taking back control of our country from the tyrant and his spineless minions who would turn America into something despicable and unrecognizable. For those who still support the president, finding the courage to vote for those who oppose him would be the most fitting tribute to those who perished 25 years ago. We cannot allow the likes of President Donald Trump to dishonor their memories any longer, not if we claim to have anything resembling a conscience. Dennis B.
