Steven Pearlstein, a former Post columnist, is the Robinson professor of public affairs at George Mason University and director of the Fixing Congress initiative at the University of Pennsylvania. House Democrats and their leaders are in a lather because two of their caucus's most centrist members had the temerity not to put the party — and party unity — ahead of the interests of their constituents. Imagine!
