Double Take -- Giese: Democrats forget affordability issues have long history

Historically, midterm elections have proven difficult for the party holding the presidency. Many forget, don't recognize, or ignore the source of their predicaments. Impatience is a big problem. For a significant number of so-called 'swing' voters, if expectations (primarily economic) aren't immediately met, they jump ship. It's estimated 80% of people tend toward short-term thinking. In 2020, Donald Trump's economic comeback from COVID-19 apparently wasn't quick enough so we were burdened with Joe Biden. In 2024, recognizing their error, a majority dumped the Democrats. Among many things, that majority didn't like the wokeism, lack of border enforcement and, in particular, inflation (i.e. 'affordability').
